One of the 49ers’ final preseason cuts rejoined the team just hours before their flight to Seattle on Saturday.

Cornerback Asa Jackson has been promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, replacing cornerback Keither Reaser who has been waived, the team announced. Reaser was a fifth-round selection by former general manager Trent Baalke in 2014.

Jackson, 27, is a Sacramento native, and played his college ball at Cal Poly before being selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of the 2012 draft. Jackson played in 18 games (6 starts) in four seasons with the Ravens, and played in four games (two starts) with the Lions last season. Jackson was on the bubble to make the 53-man roster out of camp, and grabbed two interceptions in the team’s final preseason game. Jackson will wear No. 30.

Reaser, 26, missed his entire rookie season due to an ACL injury, and played in 28 games over the last two seasons with the 49ers, grading as a below average in both years according to Pro Football Focus. Reaser did not appear with the defense in San Francisco’s loss to Carolina last week.

The 49ers now have 32 players on their 53-man roster who were not with the team last season.
