SAN FRANCISCO – Madison Bumgarner exited Sunday’s start with a 2-1 lead. He gave himself the lead with a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Mark Melancon entered in the top of the seventh inning and nearly surrendered the lead that the Giants ace just provided. With one out, Phillies’ pinch hitter Hyun Soo Kim smoked a base hit into left field. Cameron Perkins – running on second – was waved home on the play with the Phillies trying to tie the game at 2.

Giants left fielder Jarrett Parker, however, had other plans.

Parker threw a low two-hopper right on target to Giants catcher Buster Posey, who applied the tag on Perkins for the second out of the inning.

The out brought a roar from the fans at AT&T Park, Melancon, and especially Bumgarner, who still remains in line for his fourth win of the season.
