SAN FRANCISCO – The Giants have really taken this “Pitchers who rake” thing to heart.
The saying, coined by those talking about Madison Bumgarner, can also be used when talking about most of the starting staff at this point. If you’re ever early enough to AT&T Park to watch the San Francisco pitchers take batting practice, you know what we’re talking about.
Thursday night Ty Blach absolutely crushed a home run to deep center, marking the first three-run homer for the team at home all year. Sunday afternoon Jeff Samardzija hit a ball to deep center and thought it was gone, flipping his bat and jogging to first.
Only problem was that the ball didn’t leave the park.
Samardzija ended up hitting a double, and when he arrived at second base Ty Blach made sure let the Shark know who had more power to center.

“I’m going to hear about that one for a while,” Samardzija said. “It just came off good, and it timed up nice, and I barreled it. The last time in Colorado I sprinted around the bases at a nice clip and ended up going out and giving up a few the next inning. So I thought I hit it, was making sure I was going to take it easy and it ended up not being what we thought.”
