Prospect Shaun Anderson joined our Giants beat writer Kerry Crowley on the first episode of The KO Podcast, and talked about being traded from the Boston Red Sox organization for Eduardo Nunez last week.
Anderson detailed how he found out that he’d been traded less than a year after being with the Red Sox organization.
“We just finished the game I went back to the hotel and I got a call from my manager and he said hey you’ve been traded to the San Francisco Giants, someone will give you a call with more information,” Anderson said. “I was like, ‘okay.’ Then not too long after I got some calls from guys in the San Francisco organization and they kind’ve introduced me to the Giants and I was on my way.”
Anderson said the trade came out of nowhere, and that he appreciated the Giants allowing him to spend one last day with his teammates at Single-A Greenville.
“Yeah I honestly had no idea. It was going to be my first full year until I got traded. But everything happens for a reason and I’m pumped to be a part of the Giants now.
“We were on the road and all my stuff was still in Salem so I wanted to ride back with the team and pick up all my stuff and pack it up and fly the next day and it was great. The Giants were cool with that and made this transition a lot easier. I was able to have all my stuff rather than having it shipped out which was awesome.”
