Paul George traded to Oklahoma City [report]

In a move nobody saw coming, Pacers All-Star forward Paul George has been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

George, 27, being traded is hardly a surprise, as the forward informed Indiana he did not plan on re-signing with the team after his contract is up next season. Nobody had George joining up with Golden State-rival Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City, however, with the Lakers, Cavaliers and Wizards reported to be the most likely destination for the three time All-NBA selection. The move will make the one-sided Warriors-Thunder rivalry much more interesting.

In exchange, the Pacers received guard Victor Oladipo, who is still owed $21 million through 2020-21 and OKC’s first-round pick from last season, forward Domantas Sabonis.

The move is a gamble for the Thunder, who will still have to entice George to re-sign with them after next season. George has been reportedly eyeing joining the Lakers in the 2017-18 for some time, and this trade does not necessarily mean he’s changed his mind, especially if things don’t go smoothly during his first season in OKC.
