Krueger details two plans to rebuild the Giants

Larry Krueger is back to talk San Francisco Giants baseball and with the team on pace to lose 100 games, Larry is spending all of his efforts on a Giants’ rebuild.

Larry’s Rebuild

  • Trade Derek Law to the Pirates for Josh Harrison

“Harrison can play 2nd, he can play third, he can play left, he gives you energy, they lack energy they lack fire, that’s how I’m starting my rebuild.”

  • Sign a centerfielder in the offseason.

“You have to have a dynamic centerfielder in this ballpark. There’s two of them out there, Lorenzo Cain (Royals), Andrew McCutchen (Pirates).”

  • Beef up the bullpen

“Go after Wade Davis, top relief pitcher and you sign Tyler Chatwood away from the Rockies. Chatwood will take Cueto’s spot, you plug Wade Davis into that bullpen with or without a Melancon and you’re good to go.”

Possibilities for Long Term

  • Trade with Yankees: Cueto, Nunez, Melancon, Kontos and Belt FOR top-tier prospects

“In the offseason or maybe at the end of the year, you make a trade with the Yankees. The Yankees have a great farm system, they have needs in the rotation, in the bullpen, and on the infield corners.”

There have already been reports that the Giants are pursuing trades. Supposedly, the only untouchable players on the roster are Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford and Madison Bumgarner, but beyond their star players it seems the Giants could look to find help wherever they can get it.

You can listen to Larry alongside Gary Radnich from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday – Friday on KNBR 680. For more Giants news click here.
