When he’s not leading the Golden State Warriors on the hardwood, Stephen Curry enjoys competing in a different setting – on the golf course. Curry has hit the links with President Obama and Tom Brady, played at Augusta National Golf Club with Andre Iguodala and participated in a celebrity golf tournament.
The competition he has faced, however, is nothing compared to what he will be up against when he plays in the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic in August.
Curry will receive a sponsor exemption to play in the tournament. The two-time NBA MVP will be playing to raise money for the Warriors foundation, as the Ellie Mae Classic benefits the Warriors.
This will be the first tournament Curry competes in against tour professionals. Curry will be playing alongside those who are on the brink of making it to the PGA Tour.
Curry, who has a respectable 2.2 handicap, will have the overwhelming support of the fans in attendance. The event will be held at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward, California, a 30 minute drive from Oracle Arena.
The event will take place from August 3 to 6. Curry took to twitter to share his excitement.
