It’s been almost a year now since Kevin Durant made his fateful 4th of July announcement last summer that he’d be heading to the Bay Area to join the Warriors. It’s been a wild 12 months between Durant, the city of Oklahoma and the teammates that remained with the Thunder, most notably Russell Westbrook. From low-key cupcake references to duking it out on the court, Russ and KD, both of whom can now be called MVPs, each had a season they won’t soon forget.
On Tuesday, Durant took to his YouTube channel to share some thoughts on the NBA awards announced last night, and he was sure to include a shoutout to Westbrook.
“Huge congrats to Russell Westbrook on MVP, that boy went out there and was a created player on 2k all year, F***in balled out,” KD wrote. “Gotta respect it!”

Durant also mentioned another former teammate of his who lost to Westbrook in the MVP race, James Harden. KD was sure to predict that Harden will one day win an MVP of his own.
