As the 2017 NBA Draft kicked off and the Philadelphia 76ers selected Markelle Fultz with the first overall pick, the first blockbuster trade of the offseason went down almost simultaneously. After the last few days were filled with discussion about the Cavaliers potentially upgrading their star core with Jimmy Butler, the Timberwolves have reportedly swooped in to steal Butler.
The Bulls have agreed in principle to deal Jimmy Butler to the Timberwolves, per source.

Butler, along with Paul George, was one of two superstars who were available on the trading block this offseason. The Cavs were linked to both, with the assumption around the NBA being that Cleveland is looking to improve its big three in order to better challenge Golden State. Now, however, hopes of significantly improving the roster next season are looking bleaker for LeBron and company.
Now, the attention turns to Minnesota as a potential Western Conference contender. With the young duo of Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony-Towns to pair up with at least two more years of Jimmy Butler, the Wolves could be incredibly formidable next season.
The haul they gave up to get Butler included two other young players and a top-10 pick, but getting to keep their two young stars is huge.
Chicago is finalizing a deal to send Jimmy Butler to Minnesota for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and No. 7 pick, league source says.

Correction: Bulls did not keep 16th pick. So deal is Jimmy Butler and No. 16 for LaVine, Dunn and 7.
