Jim Plunkett-Cole, celebrated the Warriors NBA Championship a little bit differently than most people. He ran…a lot. The 48 year-old Englishman ran over 50 miles in San Francisco to spell out Warriors 2017 NBA Champs.
Plunkett-Cole isn’t new to running great distances. He is currently trying to duplicate the run from the movie “Forrest Gump” which comes out to about 20,000 miles. To attain that goal he planned to run 17-miles a day for three years. He started his journey on Oct. 1, 2016.
According to the Washington Post, Plunkett-Cole said he runs about 20 miles a day at a 12-to-15-minute pace, moving from city to city. Along the way, he promotes healthy living and fights childhood obesity with visits to elementary schools to encourage kids to be active.
The Post quoted Plunkett-Cole on why he decided to run to the Warriors’ championship. “It seemed to be something that was bringing people together,” Plunkett-Cole said. “What inspired me was their passion for their team.”
