The Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly considering trading All-Star center DeAndre Jordan.
ESPN’s Chris Haynes first broke the report, claiming the Clippers had reached out to the Phoenix Suns regarding a possible swap for Tyson Chandler and the Suns’ No. 4 pick in this year’s draft. However, it’s believed the Suns rejected the offer.
Jordan, who’s spent his entire nine-year career with the Clippers, is coming off his best season. He notched his first All-Star selection, averaging 12.7 points and 10.1 defensive rebounds per game. He still has two years and $46 million remaining on his contract.
Los Angeles on the other hand, ranked oldest in average team age during the 2016-2017 season, and are without a pick in the upcoming draft. With the signing of new consultant Jerry West last week, they are expected to make a strong push towards both acquiring youth and obtaining a second round pick, especially with star Blake Griffin expecting to test the free agent waters this offseason.
Chris Paul is also out of contract and a question mark to return, with the San Antonio Spurs showing particular interest in the point guard. It has been reported that Paul is more likely to re-sign now that West has joined the fold.
