In the immediate aftermath of Kevin Durant’s decision to join the Golden State Warriors last July, Stephen A. Smith took to Twitter to share his thoughts about what he called a “weak” move by Durant.
Don't give a damn what anyone says: weak move by KD. You go to GSW, the team who beat you, when you're already on a title contender? Please!

All season long, Smith has stood by this claim, though he’s clarified he doesn’t think Durant is a weak man or a weak player. Durant’s mother, Wanda, spoke out on First Take during these Finals to criticize Smith for saying her son’s move was weak. Unfortunately for viewers, Smith wasn’t on the show at the time due to the recent passing of his mother, and Wanda did make sure to offer condolences and say that she respected Smith above all else.
But on Tuesday, in the wake of her son’s first ever NBA title win, Wanda joined First Take again and got the chance to gloat in front of Smith. In fact, she even got an apology from him. While fans in the audience chanted “say you’re sorry!” at Smith, he conceded and offered a good-hearted “I’m sorry” to Wanda while she smiled and laughed. Check out the exchange below.
Yes you heard right. That's @stephenasmith apologizing to @MamaDurant. ? pic.twitter.com/Sastjo8a8D
