SAN FRANCISCO–If you thought the Giants offense would wake up after their best offensive performance of the season against the Twins on Monday night, you were sadly mistaken.
The Giants came out flat against the Royals on Tuesday, falling 8-1 on a night where nothing went there way and Kansas City starter Jason Vargas was locked in early.
Giants starter Ty Blach was charged for seven earned runs even though Kansas City didn’t hit him particularly hard. Bochy says his starter pitched well and his numbers over the past two starts haven’t matched the box-score.
“It’s hard to believe he gave up those runs,” Bochy said regarding Blach. “He had good stuff and they placed the ball just out of reach three or four times there. It’s a shame becasue Ty really threw the ball well tonight, he really did. The numbers aren’t indicative of how he threw it.”
