When Draymond Green was assessed a technical foul in the 3rd quarter of Game 4 on Friday night, it appeared as though he would be ejected for receiving his second technical of the game. Chaos ensued, however, when the referees declared that an earlier technical in the first half was actually supposed to have been charged to Steve Kerr but was instead give to Green by the official scorer.
The NBA released an interview transcript with two of the officials, Mike Callahan and John Goble, after the game. They explained that they didn’t clearly verbalize who the first technical was on with the scorer’s table and public address announcer. Take a look at the full transcript of the interview with the officials below.

On a night when the referees were one of the game’s biggest storylines, the technical foul situation was likely the biggest point of confusion and questioning. This interview offers some more clarity on the incident, but overall, it’s not a great look for NBA officials.
