The San Francisco 49ers officially inked one of their two first-round selections from the 2017 Draft on Friday, as the team announced it signed linebacker Reuben Foster to a four-year deal. Foster was the 31st overall pick out of Alabama, and slipped on draft day after being mentioned as a possible top-10 or even top-5 pick in the lead up to the draft.

Foster was a 1st-Team All-American in 2016 as a senior, and started all 15 of the Crimson Tide’s games while collecting 115 tackles and five sacks. In his career at Alabama, he had 222 tackles and 24 tackles for loss.
With the news of the Foster signing, the 49ers have now signed eight of their 10 draft selections from this year to contracts. The only two players that remain unsigned are fellow first-round pick (#3 overall) Solomon Thomas from Stanford, and third-round pick C.J. Beathard, a quarterback from Iowa.
Thomas and Foster make up an impressive defensive pair that the 49ers selected in the first round this season, and the two are the fifth and sixth defensive players drafted by San Francisco in the first round over the last five years.
