The Ohio State Buckeyes are in the market for a new head basketball coach after the firing of Thad Matta on Monday. One of their targets is Warriors star-assistant coach, and Ohio native, Mike Brown, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical.

According to Anthony Slater of the Bay Area News Group, Brown has thought about coaching in college before, something he’s never done, but is currently “incredibly happy” with his position in Golden State. Ohio State has not reached out to Brown yet, but have reportedly already offered the job to Creighton head coach Doug McDermott.

Brown, 47, was born on Columbus, Ohio, and spent six years as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers during two separate stints in 2005-2010 and 2013-2014. Brown joined the Warriors this offseason as the team’s lead assistant, replacing the departed Luke Walton. Brown filled in for Steve Kerr for most of the 2017 postseason as the Golden State head coach dealt with back issues.

The Warriors went 11-0 during Brown’s time as interim head coach. Overall, Brown is 347-216 (.616) in eight seasons as an NBA head coach.
