Mike Brown had a bit less pressure on him Sunday night than he faced during the previous 11 games, when he went a perfect 11-0 as interim head coach in place of the ailing Steve Kerr. With Kerr back on the sidelines for Game 2 of the Finals, Brown returned to his role as lead assistant.
After the game, in an interview with ABC7 News, Brown was asked about his thoughts on Kerr’s return right as an unsuspecting Tony Brothers walked by. Brothers officiated Game 2, and Brown cracked a joke at Brothers’ expense, saying, “When I found out Tony was going to be officiating the game, I was like man I’m glad I’m not coaching tonight.”

Brown continued to rib Brothers as the official gave him a disapproving look, before moving onto his more serious answer. Video of the encounter is available above. Brown has always been known for his joking and upbeat attitude, and it’s been on display more and more the past few weeks as he’s taken the reins of the Warriors. Clearly, he’s still pretty upbeat even after losing his temporary gig.
