Bryce Harper’s suspension reduced by MLB [report]

MLB handed down a six game suspension to Hunter Strickland, and a four game suspension to Bryce Harper on Tuesday, following Harper’s charging of the mound that led to a benches clearing brawl on Monday.

Both players appealed their suspensions, and on Wednesday, Harper’s was reduced to three games according to Mark Zuckerman of MASN. Harper will begin his suspension tonight thorough Sunday’s game against the A’s.

It’s unclear at this point what the status of Strickland’s suspension will be, but there has yet to be an announcement that it’s been reduced.

The Giants will not be able to replace Strickland on the roster during his suspension, something Giants manager Bruce e Bochy said will be a hardship if he is indeed on the shelf for six days.

“Six games is a lot to go without a setup guy,” Bochy told the San Jose Mercury News. “We’re a man short.”

The Giants and Nationals face off in the last game of the three game series Wednesday night.
