The Atlanta Hawks have reached out and secured permission to interview Warriors assistant general manager Travis Schlenk sources have told NBA reporter Marc Stein.

Schlenk, 41, has been with the Warriors for 12 seasons and is in his fifth as the assistant general manager. Schlenk reports directly to GM Bob Myers and assists in the management of all day-to-day basketball operations, including all player-related matters. With 16 years of experience in the NBA, Schlenk has held a job at nearly every level of basketball operations.

It is unclear exactly what role the Hawks are looking to fill in their front office, with Stein reporting that they are searching for a “new lead voice in basketball operations.” Atlanta has also reportedly reached out to Washington Wizards vice president of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard, ESPN television analyst Chauncey Billups and Boston Celtics assistant general manager Mike Zarren amongst many others.

Schlenk joined the Warriors prior to the 2004-05 season as a video scout after spending the previous four years as the video coordinator for the Miami Heat, according to the team’s website.
