SAN FRANCISCO – Saturday Brandon Belt opened the game up with a solo home run at the bottom of the 1st inning. Belt’s home run marked AT&T Park’s 72nd splash hit.
The hit was Belt’s 6th career splash hit and his 6th home run this season. This places Belt in 3rd for most splash hits in AT&T Park history. Belt is only one splash hit behind 2nd place Pablo Sandoval, who has seven. Meanwhile, Barry Bonds holds a comfortable hold on the top spot with 35 splashes.
Six of the Giants’ eight runs this series have come from solo shots. This surge in offense comes from a team not known for power in a notoriously unfriendly hitting park. These home runs show life in a team that has had a struggling offense thus far in the 2017 season.
