Another day, another Trent Baalke holdover has been sent packing. The 49ers are releasing running back Mike Davis.
The #49ers have released RB Mike Davis, source said. He was the subject of trade talks during the draft, so he'll draw real interest.

Davis became expendable after the team signed Tim Hightower, re-signed DuJuan Harris, drafted Joe Williams in the fourth round and signed undrafted free agent Matt Brieda. Carlos Hyde is expected to start Week 1.
Davis finishes his 49ers career with 54 carries for 108 yards and one touchdown in 14 games played over two seasons. Baalke drafted him out of South Carolina in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
