Christian Arroyo still hasn’t had a major league at bat, yet the Giants top prospect has been one of the organizations most talked about players this season. Rightfully so as Arroyo has only added to his already impressive minor league resume. In his first season at the AAA level with the Sacramento Rivercats, Arroyo is batting .442 with a .473 on-base percentage and 3 home runs after 52 at bats.
With the Giants offensive woes in left field, some have called on the organization to promote the 21 year old infielder to provide a much needed boost to the lineup. But with 3rd base currently occupied by Eduardo Nunez and GM Bobby Evans telling KNBR this week that they don’t intend to use Arroyo in left field, the wait might be a bit longer than some fans were hoping.
Still, if Arroyo continues his scorching start the calls for his promotions will only get louder. On the latest edition of the KNBR Minor League Podcast, Adam Copeland and Cody Pasby talk about when to expect Arroyo at the major league level and which minor leaguers could help solve the team’s left field problems. Plus, the guys look at players making an impact at the lower levels who fans should keep an eye on this season and beyond.
