OAKLAND – Warriors Center JaVale McGee had another extremely productive day at the office in Game 2 of Golden State’s first round matchup against the Portland Trailblazers.
McGee comes from a big (literally) basketball family, and he went into how that helped him develop into the player he is today.
“My mother definitely was still hard working me, especially on the basketball,” said McGee. “I think it was sixth grade, and I had a bad game. She had me up at 6:00 a.m. running around, running around in the snow in boots, like working out.”
JaVale McGee has made a significant impact over the Warriors’ first two games, including dropping 15 points on 7/7 shooting in Wednesday’s blowout victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. McGee also led the team with four blocked shots in just over 13 minutes of action.
McGee has been a surprise to nearly most around the league this season, after being picked up by Golden State and signed to a veteran’s minimum contract. The former Dunk Contest runner-up appears to be making himself quite a bit of free agent money with every stellar performance, especially on national TV in the postseason.
