OAKLAND – Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and All-Star forward Kevin Durant may have been all focus before, during and after the Warriors’ Game 1 victory Sunday afternoon, but that didn’t stop the two from sending their thoughts and prayers to a fellow member of the NBA family.
In a tragic turn of events, Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas’s sister was killed in a car accident Saturday morning. Both Durant and Kerr made a point to let the Thomas family know that the entire Warriors family was thinking of them in what is obviously an incredibly difficult time for them.
“We’re all praying for him,” Durant said. “The NBA family is behind him.”
Durant’s comments were unprompted, as he made a point to start his press conference by offering condolences. Steve Kerr took the same route.
“Everybody at our organization, in our organization, is just devastated to hear the news,” said Kerr. “Can’t imagine what he’s going through, and his family’s going through.”
