Green: ‘You feel a different sense around the team…guys are more locked in’

OAKLAND – Draymond Green says he can feel a difference between the 2016 defend-a-title and the current 2017 chase-a-title Warriors teams.

“You’re a little bit hungrier trying to get something or go get something back than you are when you got it,” Green said at Friday afternoon’s shootaround.

If true, that would be bad news for the rest of The Association. The Warriors finished the season winning 15 of their last 16 games, which included a 14-game win streak. Green went on to say there’s another key difference between this year and last…the rosters are drastically different.

The obvious change is future Hall-of-famer Kevin Durant. But the rest of the frontcourt has also taken a drastically different shape than the 2015-16 version. Gone are Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli and Harrison Barnes (all NBA champions). In are Zaza Pachulia, JaVale McGee and Matt Barnes – all chasing their first ring.

“It’s a completely different team. What we got – five guys on this team that’s won a championship? Six?” said Green. “Last year you had like 12 or 13 guys who had won a championship.”
