Woodson: Expect San Francisco Giants roster to look different in a month or two

SAN FRANCISCO – The week and a half of the San Francisco Giants 2017 campaign hasn’t been the most reassuring group of games in the team’s history.

Many of the team’s downfalls in 2016 have carried over to the beginning of 2017. The offense has been sluggish to start the year, and the Giants are long overdue for a 9th inning comeback win.

“You go back to the start of the 2016 season, trailing after the eight innings, the Giants are 0-68,” said Woodson. “That speaks to a bad bench last year.”

“I’ll say this about what you’re looking at with the roster right now,” said Woodson. “I don’t think it’s going to be the roster you’re looking at in a month or two. A lot of things can happen here.

“One of them might be Christian Arroyo, who is off to a hot start in Sacramento. Thursday night he hit his first home run of the season for the River Cats.”

Christian Arroyo has been off to a scorching start for the Sacramento River Cats. The young third baseman is hitting .407 with three doubles and one bomb through the first seven games of the year. That’s good for a slugging percentage of .630.

If the Giants offense continues to struggle to plate runs, Arroyo is making it hard for Bochy to leave him in the minors.
