The first round of the NFL Draft is now exactly two weeks away. There has been plenty of speculation over the past couple days about what the San Francisco 49ers will do with the second overall pick in this year’s draft. John Lynch told reporters yesterday that the 49ers were “open for business” regarding any trade scenarios.
The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows joined the Gary and Larry show on Thursday to give his thoughts on what the team might do.
Barrows started off the interview by confirming that Stanford DE Solomon Thomas and LSU RB Leonard Fournette would be the two players that teams would be most likely to trade up for. He then mentioned an interesting development: Cleveland trading up to get the first two picks in this year’s draft.
“Another interesting possibility is that the Browns trade up, as well,” Barrows said. “The report this week is that the Browns are torn between Myles Garrett and Mitch Trubisky, who is from the Ohio area. They’ve got the number one pick, which everybody assumes that they’re going to use on Garrett. But when they are back on the clock at twelve, the question is, ‘Is Trubisky going to be there?’ They can guarantee that they get him if they trade with the 49ers.”
