Cumulus San Francisco KNBR 680/1050 Programming

Internship Curriculum Overview

Interns with the Cumulus San Francisco KNBR 680/1050 Programming department will work with a specific show on either KNBR 680 or KNBR 1050.

Main responsibilities will include contributing to and working with a specific show on either 680 or 1050, allowing interns to learn the process by which programming employees on both stations operate on a daily basis.

Daily responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

– Editing audio for on-air use

– Helping create show topics and content ideas related to sports and pop culture

– Learning how to use social media as a tool to enrich the on-air product

– Learning how to board operate a live radio show

– Assisting show producers in calling guests, screening calls, and miscellaneous show duties

The training interns will receive will be similar to that which one would receive in a vocational school. All training will be for the benefit of the trainees/interns and they will not displace regular employees, but work under close observation.

The Cumulus San Francisco KNBR 680/1050 programming department will derive no immediate advantage from the activities of interns and, on occasion, the employer’s operations may be impeded while training interns. Interns are not necessarily entitled to a job at the conclusion of the internship nor are they entitled to wages for the time spent in training.

Students will need to prove they are enrolled in class and receiving credit for the hours they are interning.
