David West has been with Golden State for less than a year, but his guidance and veteran presence are clearly being felt by his teammates. West had eight points, four assists, and three rebounds, but players like Draymond Green and Steph Curry understand his off-court influence will be vital come playoff time.
Steph Curry mentioned after the game that the team needed to emulate West’s toughness in order to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday, a team coming in with an extremely tough and talented front court in Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol.
West talked after the win about simply trying to be a part of the group and being a vocal leader when he needs to be.
