The 49ers’ most prized offseason acquisition is more than just a football player.
Pierre Garcon is a business owner.
While living in the Washington D.C. area, Garcon invested in SpinFire Pizza, a fast casual chain located throughout in Northern Virginia. What makes this particular chain different is that SpinFire pizzas are cooked in under 90 seconds, an ode to the No. 88 Garcon wears.
As detailed by Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post, Garcon receives emailed manager reports every day, owns nearly 50 percent of the business and has plans to both expand overseas and set up franchises in college towns.
According to TMZ Sports, that expansion could include locations in the Bay Area as well.
“There’s a possibility that it could end up on the west side, because the West Coast is pretty active and going and they love food,” Garcon told TMZ. “… I can’t confirm it. But it doesn’t hurt to have it there because San Jose is very busy, the Bay Area is very busy, San Francisco, Oakland. It’s all busy. There’s people there. There’s foot traffic in it, and that’s what we need.”
“I know it’s hard to believe, but he’s involved; he’s deeply, deeply involved,” Garcon’s business partner Fouad A. Qreitem told the Washington Post in 2015. “It’s not a front. He’s not a face that we’re using to build a brand. If he left the Redskins today, he’s still my partner and this is still his business. … God bless his football career, but this is going to outlast his career. When football’s over, this is going to be his career.”
