It’s been nearly two months since the Golden State Warriors broke ground on the Chase Center, their new San Francisco home scheduled to open in time for the 2019 -2020 season. This week, the Warriors are giving a sneak peek on their future home. Warriors COO Rick Welts joined Murph and Mac to discuss how the Warriors intend to make the project a year on-site, not just for basketball.
“Every day of the year, there’s going to be activities going on there that people can participate in,” Welts said. “Some of it revolves around having a whole new restaurant district in San Francisco, One hundred square feet of restaurants that are going to surround the entry plaza and be on the new Terry Francois Blvd, and activities going on in the park.
“You know, this gets talked about the Warriors’ project because the Warriors are paying for the project, and obviously the Warriors will always be the centerpiece of our programming there, but the vast majority of the programming there are going to be the things that have never ever been able to play [in] San Francisco. The musical artists, the family shows, the conventions. I hope we may nominate a President of the United States there one day.”
