LaVar Ball, the father of UCLA star freshman Lonzo Ball, made headlines after his comments two weeks ago that his son is already a better player than 2-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry.
“He’s better than Steph Curry to me,” LaVar said. “Put Steph Curry on UCLA’s team right now and put my boy on Golden State and watch what happens.”
While no one is denying the ability of Lonzo Ball, the comments are outrageous. Curry was asked about them for the first time today at Warriors’ shootaround and unsurprisingly wasn’t interested in engaging.
“I don’t want to talk about that,” Curry said, shaking his head while pursing his lips. “I wish his kids the best. I know they’re going to be great NBA players. That’s their job. That’s it.”
When asked a follow up question if he thought the comments were putting unnecessary pressure on Lonzo and his two other young sons LiAngelo and LaMelo, Curry again decided to take the high road.
“Every person should parent their kid how they feel they should,” Curry said. “That’s it.”
