The 49ers made their first splash of the new Kyle Shanahan/John Lynch regime on Wednesday morning, with multiple reports signaling that the team is soon to sign 1,000 yard wide receiver Pierre Garcon to a lucrative deal.
With the amount of cap space and dearth of talent on the roster, the signing of Garcon is likely to be the first of many, which also may include what most consider to be the best fullback in the NFL. The 49ers are amongst a handful of teams interested in Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk according to USA Today’s Tom Pelissero.
#49ers need a lot of pieces for Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Besides Pierre Garcon, they’re among the teams in on FB Kyle Juszczyk, per sources.

Juszczyk, 25, has been with the Ravens since 2013, and graded out as the best fullback in the league last season according to Pro Football Focus. Juszczyk is considered elite as both a pass blocker and a receiver for his position, two skills that could prove to be especially valuable in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
The 49ers did not use a fullback in Chip Kelly’s offense last season. In Atlanta, Shanahan made good use of fullback Patrick Demarco, who made a Pro Bowl in 2015, and who was on the field for the third most snaps of any player at the position in 2016.
