SCOTTSDALE – Ryder Jones, a 22 year-old 3B prospect from Seattle, WA turned down the opportunity to play baseball at Stanford University when he was drafted in the second round of the 2013 draft by the San Francisco Giants.

Jones his found power at the double-A level in 2016, hitting 25 home runs at the AA level with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. He also had the most RBIs of his pro career, knocking in 67 base runners and hitting .247 while slugging .291.

The Giants invited Jones to spring training for the first time in 2016, and again this summer. Jones told Drew Hoffar, a member of KNBR 1050’s morning show The Audible, that he feels much more comfortable in his second big-league camp.

“You learn from the older guys how they prepare,” said Jones. “You take notes. I mean when I was younger I’d take 100 ground balls and 1000 swings and I’d be tired by the time the games started. Now I get my body and know what I need to do.”
