SCOTTSDALE – Tyler Beede, the San Francisco Giants’ top minor league prospect, is a man of many talents.

The Toronto Blue Jays selected Beede in 2011 when he graduated high school in Massachusetts with the 21st pick of the first round. He chose to attend Vanderbilt University where he went on to be a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award (awarded to the best amateur baseball player in the USA) and the Dick Houser Trophy (given to the best college baseball player of the year). The Giants selected Beede with the 14th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft.

Beede had an impressive start to spring training, pitching two scoreless innings against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday. He’s also impressed fellow pitcher Matt Cain early on:

Apart from his accomplishments on the field, we recently learned that the young pitcher is an avid fan of rap music, even freestyling in a Target on KNBR’s Minor League Podcast. Beede jumped on with the guys on The Audible on 1050 in Scottsdale and talked about his recent spring training start, told the guys about his favorite rap albums, even won a game of Cards Against Humanity.

Stay tuned into The Audible weekdays from 6am-9am on KNBR 1050 for Tyler Beede’s next rap performance. You can check out other Giants interviews from The Audible’s trip down to Scottsdale here.
