Just a week and a half before pitchers and catchers are slated to report for Spring Training, former Giants reliever Sergio Romo remains a free agent. That may change soon, however, with Romo currently deciding between joining his long-time rival Los Angeles Dodgers, or a second, unidentified team, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Romo has expressed his deisre to return to the Giants on multiple occasions this offseason, most recently on Tuesday, when he told SirusXM that he’d ‘love to go back to San Francisco, but at this point, it doesn’t seem to be in the cards.’
Giants general manager Bobby Evans stated during the winter meetings that the club was not planning on returning Romo, Javier Lopez or Santiago Casilla this offseason. Lopez remains a free agent, while Casilla signed a two year deal with the Oakland A’s, his original club.
Though Giants fans would likely find it painful to see Romo, a three-time World Series champion with the Giants, in Dodger blue, playing for Los Angeles would mark a return to his Southern California roots.
Romo, 33, was drafted by the Giants in the 28th round of the 2005 draft, and spent his entire career in San Francisco up till this point. The right-hander missed a healthy chuck of the season in 2016 recovering from elbow surgery, but ended up finishing with solid numbers, his 2.64 ERA his lowest since 2013.
