For the fouth time in his young coaching career, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been named Western Conference Coach of the Month. The award is for the games played in late October and November. Kerr’s Warriors put together a league best 16-2 record during that time, and overcame a blowout at home in their first game, as well as some early growing pains during the first two weeks of the season, to put together the league’s best point (+12.7) differential throughout the first month of the season.
Additionally, Golden State lead the league in points per game (117.6), offensive efficiency (113.8 points per 100 possessions), and assists (31.1). The Warriors played more than half their games on the road going 9-1, and swept a four-game East Coast road trip, beating four potential playoff teams in the middle of November. Golden State also notched 30 or more assists in 10 consecutive games, tied for second most all time, and sent a franchise record for assists in a game with 47 against the Lakers on November 23.
According to Warriors media services, Kerr’s four Coach of the Month honors match the amount of monthly honors won by all other coaches in Warriors history since the NBA began giving out the award in 1982-83. Kerr won the award once last season and twice in his first season as the Golden State head coach.
Cleveland Cavaliers Head Coach Tyronn Lue earned Coach of the Month honors in the Eastern Conference.
