San Francisco Giants infielder Brandon Crawford’s season might be starting early.
Crawford was named to Team USA’s provisional roster for the 2017 World Baseball Classic on Thursday, according to a report by Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

This would be the first time Crawford, 29, has participated in the tournament which will be held from March 9-22 of next year.
Should Crawford, who just won his second consecutive Gold Glove at shortstop, agree to participate, he could be joining teammates Madison Bumgarner and Buster Posey, who said in April that they would be open to joining Jim Leyland’s squad.
The tournament was last held in 2013, with the Dominican Republic winning the title.
