Rookie second-round pick Patrick McCaw has been a bright spot for the Warriors throughout the first 10 games of the season, and was a key contributor in Golden State’s tighter than it should’ve been win on Sunday over Phoenix.
Sporting a headband and the rarely worn number 0, the lanky McCaw is easy to spot any time he’s on the floor. McCaw joined KNBR’s Murph and Mac for the first time on Wednesday morning and explained his reasons for choosing the rarely worn number.
“It was my idea. I chose number 0 because when I first entered the draft, a lot of people were wondering why’d I leave school,” McCaw said. “Then over the course of the entire draft process my name started climbing the board and people started talking about me a lot more. It was just crazy to know where I started and like in a months time I was being talked about as a potential first round pick, or even a draft pick at all.”
“My mindset was just zero worries, zero doubts, and I choose zero because of that. I had no worries or doubts entering the draft of where I would land or what team cause I knew God would put me in the right position.”
It seems McCaw couldn’t have landed in a better spot, and if his early season performances are any indication, he’s looking like another second-round steal for Bob Myers and Co.
