KNBR Giants analyst Marty Lurie joined The Krueg Show from the GM Meetings in Arizona on Thursday, to discuss some possible moves San Francisco may be looking to make during the hot stove season. Lurie said that finding a closer is priority number one for the club, echoing the sentiment of general manager Bobby Evans last month, and agreeing with Mike Krukow that Aroldis Chapman is the top target.

Lurie was also asked about where the Giants should look to improve when it comes to position players, and agreed with Larry that Dodgers third-baseman Justin Turner would be an excellent acquisition, assuming the club took care of their ninth inning issues first.

“I love it,” Lurie said about the possibility of signing Turner. “He’s a good player. I think if you can get Justin Turner I would go for it. If the Giants have a money issue, you can’t go and get Tuner, and then not be able to get your closer, unless you think you’re trading for the closer. So we’ll see how that plays out. But to answer your question, I would love to have Turner. I think he’s a great bat in the middle of this order for the Giants.”

Turner, 31, is coming off another stellar year with Los Angeles, finishing with 27 home runs and a .832 OPS, third-best amongst National League third baseman. If the Giants acquired Turner, they would likely have Eduardo Nunez move into a super utility role.
