San Francisco Chronicle columnist Ann Killion joined Ted Ramey on Wednesday to discuss the sad state of the 49ers.
There’s a lot of blame to go around, but Killion has been keen on pointing out the shortcomings of CEO Jed York.
“The aberration for the York owned 49ers is not only losing but really dysfunctional and continual turnover of people and players and coaches,” Killion said. “This is normal.”
Killion recently penned a well-received 49ers column entitled Losing is the new normal. The point of the column: we all saw this coming from a mile away and York should’ve too.
“I mean 7-9 was a really generous thought given the schedule and just how everything ended and how little they did to fix this team and how (Trent Baalke’s) drafts took on in recent years,” Killion said. “He’s let his own free agents walk away and still has all this salary cap money and hasn’t reinvested in good free agents from other teams. It’s such a weird equation. This roster is not good. It’s just not good.”
I’m from Washington D.C. where Dan Snyder has a very low approval rating from Redskins fans. York is nearing Snyder territory with his fan base. I’ve argued the only way to win back some credibility with the fan base would be to axe Baalke before the regular season is even over.
