Bills players roast Kaepernick’s first start of 2016 [report]

A day after his first start in 2016, people are turning in their Colin Kaepernick report cards.

Some, like myself, thought he played better than his statistics (13/29, 187 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT) indicated. The argument isn’t that he’s the quarterback of the future, but did he do enough to keep the game close despite an unraveling defense? There’s a valid debate to be had.

Others, including the Buffalo Bills players, were not impressed at all with the quarterback’s outing.

Bleacher Report’s Tyler Dunne, a former Bills beat reporter, caught up with players in the locker room afterwards.

When asked how poorly Kaepernick played, one anonymous Bills player didn’t hold back.

“Done.”

“Terrible.”

“More a distraction than a contributing member of the team.”

Dunne got top cornerback Stephon Gilmore to talk on the record.

“We wanted to do everything we could to make him throw the ball,” cornerback Stephon Gilmore said. “I mean, he’s an athlete. You can’t take that from him. But when it comes to passing the ball, he can’t really throw. …We took advantage of that.

“We wanted to make him beat us with his arm, and he couldn’t do that.”

After the game, Chip Kelly would not confirm whether Kaepernick will start next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Levi’s Stadium.
