All those connected with the Giants organization were given a scare in early September, when manager Bruce Bochy was admitted to a Miami hospital for an irregular heartbeat, causing him to miss the series opener with the Marlins.

It wasn’t the first time chest issues had affected the 61-year-old, who also had two stints put in last February to treat a pair of 90 percent blockages in the vessels near his heart.

Bochy quelled any concerns that those issues have been lingering or affecting him in recent months, telling reporters on Thursday that he feels fine, and that the stressful second half of the season did not contribute to his ailments.

“I’m fine. Trust me, I’m fine. My health had nothing to do with the stress of the game,” Bochy said.

According to Andrew Baggarly, Bochy undergoes regular heart checkups with a cardiologist in San Diego – something he did even before last year’s surgery because his father, Gus, was 65 when he died of a heart attack in 1990.

“Unfortunately I got a bad gene from my dad and I’ll thank him when I see him.”

Bochy insisted he’ll be ready to get back after it next spring.
