Gambling experts like 49ers to upset the Cowboys

SANTA CLARA — The Cowboys (2-1) are off to a hot September start, and well, the 49ers (1-2) are not. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is doing more than just keeping Dallas afloat without Tony Romo, while Chip Kelly’s taken two straight blowout losses on the chin.

Curiously, the Cowboys are just favored by 2.5 points this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

The gambling sharks in Las Vegas have set the line this way on purpose. The oddsmakers want to bait the public into taking the Cowboys, because the big bettors think the 49ers will trip Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot at home.

Nobody in the media is as plugged into the football gambling scene as Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd. He agrees that Vegas is onto something with their hunch on the 49ers.

“Every year in the NFL, once or twice, there is a line that doesn’t make sense,” Cowherd said earlier this week. “A few years ago, it was Pittsburgh and the Jets. It didn’t make sense. Last weekend there was a line that didn’t make sense. Arizona is a 3.5 favorite against Buffalo? That means Vegas knows something.”

Cowherd says there’s another one of those whacky lines from Vegas this weekend right here in Santa Clara.

“What are the Cowboys favored against San Francisco — 8, 9, 7, 6? Nope, 2.5. Dallas is going down this weekend, and for the record, Dak is going to win no more than one game in the next month. There going to lose at San Francisco… That line makes no sense.”

Relative news to the outcome of the game: Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett just announced Dez Bryant has a hairline fracture in his knee, but Dallas is still not ruling him out Sunday against the 49ers.

As for Cowherd, he did correctly pick Buffalo to upset Arizona last week. Let’s see if this Las Vegas theory pans out Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
