For the second straight week the 49ers are double-digit underdogs on the road.
But one expert is picking them to shock the world.
ESPN’s Merril Hoge is the only documented expert to pick the 49ers straight up this weekend at CenturyLink Field. Hoge is 21-11 on his picks so far this season, tied for the best on ESPN.com.
Hoge really is not a believer in the Seahawks. He was the only person on the panel last week to pick the Rams to upset Seattle. He did correctly pick the Lions to upset the Colts in Week 1, too.
Tim Ryan, who will be on the call for Fox on Sunday, gave this diagnosis of Seattle’s offense two weeks in the season.
“They can’t run the ball,” Ryan told KNBR 680. “And if they can’t run the ball, all that stuff that they like to do with play-action and Russell (Wilson) getting out on the edge hasn’t really worked for them.”
The 49ers will be without Anthony Davis (concussion0 on Sunday. Backup safeties Jaquiski Tartt and Marcus Cromartie are both dealing with ankle injuries and are listed as questionable. Seahwks running back Thomas Rawls (shin) is doubtful for the game. Rawls rushed for 209 yards last November against the 49ers.
