First it was Colin Kaepernick. Then it was 49ers safety Eric Reid, who joined his teammate in kneeling before the national anthem Thursday in San Diego.
Now it’s Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane who protested the national anthem down the road against the Oakland Raiders.
It’s anyone’s best guess if more players joining the protest will calm down the firestorm surrounding the Star-Spangled Banner, or add fuel to the fire. Our lead writer Kevin Jones wrote on Monday other players in the NFL are certainly weighing the issue.

The 26-year-old Lane has spent his entire career with the Seahawks. He hails from Tyler, Texas.
