Sometimes you’ve really got to throw yourself out there to get a girl’s attention.
That’s exactly what Raiders tight end Colton Underwood did when he asked out American gymnast Aly Raisman, an Olympic gold medalist
The 24-year-old Underwood sent Raisman, 22, a congratulatory video through Yahoo! Sports.
“Aly, what’s up, it’s Colton Underwood, tight end for the Oakland Raiders. Just wanted to congratulate you on all your success in the competitions and representing the USA over there. I know I’ve been following along, my roommate, my teammates, everybody is super proud of you. If you’re ever in San Jose and want to go on a double date with me and Andrew and Shawn, let me know.”
It helped Underwood that his Raiders teammate Andrew East is married to former Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson. East is Oakland’s long snapper; Johnson was a trainer on this year’s American squad.
Much to his surprise, Raisman got back to him pretty swiftly.
@Colt3FIVE thanks for the sweet video…. looking forward to meeting you 🙂

The moral of the story is this: If you have a crush on a girl, swing for the fences. Even if you think she’s out of your league, you never know when you might knock one out of the park, like Underwood did.
