Colin Kaepernick’s arm injury will keep him out of the 49ers’ second preseason game Saturday against the Broncos in Denver, Chip Kelly revealed Thursday morning.

Kaepernick did some light throwing on the side Wednesday in Denver after last practicing a week prior during the special training camp session at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco.

Kaepernick had surgery on his non-throwing shoulder after going on IR last season, but this latest injury is to his throwing arm. GM Trent Baalke has refuted recent reports that the quarterback has ‘dead arm’ and Kelly said Thursday that he expects Kaepernick to be back at practice next week and ready to play in the 49ers’ third preseason game against Green Bay.
