UPDATE (5 pm): Ken Rosenthal has clarified his original report after Puig’s agent disputed the story.

The Dodgers will be without Yasiel Puig as they open a three-game series in Denver after the Cuban outfielder did not handle the MLB trade deadline developments well, according to a report.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports writes that Puig arrived at Dodger Stadium Monday and was told he would either be traded or sent to the minors. The Dodgers acquired outfielder Josh Reddick from the A’s before the deadline, putting Puig’s role with the team in doubt.

Puig burst onto the MLB scene with an incredible 2013 season, but has been inconsistent ever since. He’s currently batting .260 with just seven home runs this season.

The 25-year-old has had previous issues with the Dodgers’ front office and management, including being benched for the 2014 home opener after showing up to the ballpark late.

While the MLB non-waiver trade deadline has passed, the Dodger could still trade Puig if he clears waivers. He’s owed a combined $14 million in 2017 and 2018.
