Draymond Green and Michigan State cornerback Jermaine Edmondson Jr. allegedly make incidental contact with each other at the bar Rick’s American Cafe in East Lansing. But Edmondson’s statement to police was quite different. Per the report, Green did not apologize for bumping him and went on to accuse Edmondson of not knowing who Green was and how he should be appreciative of Green’s contributions to Michigan State.
Bianca Williams, the girlfriend of Edmondson, was also involved in the minor altercation, and reported “an unknown subject had grabbed Edmondson by the throat inside the bar and also grabbed her by the throat.”
Edmondson backed up this accusation in a report he submitted to the East Lansing Police. He claimed he heard Williams yelling so he ran “over to her to see what was going on and she said she was choked by another one of the guys who were with Draymond for trying to calm the situation.”

Green and Edmondson, unplanned, appeared at the bar Conrad’s in the wee hours of Sunday morning. Edmondson reported Green approached his girlfriend, Williams, and smirked at her. Nothing immediately came of this interaction, but “five minutes later when everyone is outside, I see my roommate and Draymond talking, I walk over and I tell Draymond that last night wasn’t cool,” Edmondson told the police in a written statement — his roommate refused to be identified. The situation escalated and physical contact followed when Green then allegedly proceeded to poke Edmondson, ultimately resulting in Green slapping Edmondson’s left cheek.
Police who were in the area heard the slap and responded to the scene, eventually arresting Green in handcuffs. One officer reported Green said “some excited utterances, indicating that he was sorry for slapping the subject and wanted to speak with him to make things right.” No medical attention was needed for either party.
Green was booked in jail on the morning of July 10 and took a Breathalyzer test, which resulted in a BAC of .10, just .02 over the legal driving limit. Once sober, Green posted a $200 bail and was released that night, according to the police report.

Green’s lawyer, James Heos, told Diamond Leung of The Mercury News, “I will tell you Draymond is completely innocent – ‘completely’ should be capitalized.”
Heos also submitted a waiver of arraignment, which was approved, meaning Green is not required to appear in court.
Later on the 12th, Green commented publicly on the matter, according to Sports Illustrated. In a conference in Colorado, Green said the following, “When things happen, you meet them head on. My legal team is handling it. It will be resolved really quickly. As a public figure I can’t put myself in certain situations. It’s something that I’ll learn from and move on.”

Green’s Michigan assault case is settled after the Warriors star accepted a plea deal, according to a statement from the city of East Lansing.
The plea deal makes the incident on July 10, in which Green allegedly slapped now-former Michigan State cornerback Jermaine Edmondson, a civil infraction.
As part of the deal, Green will pay $560 in fines and jail restitution and must avoid any more criminal offenses and contact with Edmondson for one year.
